Synopsis:
The day after his release from prison for a financial crime for which he assumed sole responsibility for the family bank, Karl Escher joins a band of robbers and takes part in the kidnapping of his father's new partner and the robbery of the bank.. Even if everything goes as planned, one of his accomplices chooses to “sell” the band of bandits to Franz, the ambitious brother of Karl, who is trying to take over the bank. In the middle of high finance, where bank transactions of colossal sums are the daily lot, the question arises as to what should come first – family or business ? The Robbers is a film noir-style adaptation of Friedrich Schiller's famous play.
